The FSA is consulting on a proposal to introduce remedial action notices into enforcement of the Food Hygiene Regulations across all food businesses including catering and retailing.
They are currently used in meet hygiene enforcement and approved manufacturing premises. The FSA attempted to introduce them in 2006 and there was strong opposition from retailers and caterers who believed that existing controls if properly enforced are adequate.
